OCTOBER AND THE EYES DARK DOG

London-via New Zealand vocalist, songwriter and producer October and the Eyes' debut EP Dogs and Gods comes out today via KRO Records. Landing just a few days ago, we're taking a little look at the first track that was written for it, 'Dark Dog'. Arguably serving as a metaphor for anxiety and/or depression, the artist explains:“It’s about the uneasy feeling of being watched, that at any moment something bad could happen. There’s an anecdotal malformed dog who’s always near - limping, snarling, growling and drooling. It’s one you feel equally sorry for as you do fear it. You cannot outrun this dark dog, so you decide to make peace.” Sonically visceral, dense and drawn out, thick layers of over driven guitar consume a jagged beat as October's incredibly delivered vocals echo nuances of Angel Olsen and PJ Harvey. Check out 'Dark Dog' and the rest of the EP when you get the chance. -Holly Mullineaux
